What is a Guardian Home?

A guardian home offers families the chance to own a breeding-quality, pick-of-the-litter Australian Labradoodle at a reduced cost. To maintain our “kennel free” breeding program, Daff-O-Doodles relies on guardian homes to provide loving environments for our breeding dogs. Labradoodles are social, family-oriented dogs that thrive in caring homes once they leave our care. In a guardian home, the dog will live with you as a family pet, while Lilah Australian Labradoodles retains breeding rights. The family not only gets a top-quality puppy but also benefits from having a fully health-tested dog at no extra cost.

 

The Guardian Home program is designed to be mutually beneficial for the dog, breeder, and guardian family. 

 

For the Dog: Our guardian program ensures that our breeding dogs live in nurturing homes rather than kennels. This setup provides them with a stable environment throughout their lives, avoiding the need for rehoming in adulthood. 

 

For Daff-O-Doodles: The guardian program enables us to ensure that all our dogs receive the love and care they deserve while allowing our breeding program to expand. As our capacity for keeping dogs at our location is limited, the guardian home arrangement becomes essential.

 

For the Guardian Home: Participating in the Guardian Home program not only offers the opportunity to raise a new puppy but also provides access to a fully tested, pick-of-the-litter puppy at a reduced cost. Additionally, as our puppies are placed in homes nationwide, being a guardian home allows for involvement in our broader community.

Guardian Home Requirements

To qualify as a guardian home, you must meet the following criteria:

• Reside within a one-and-a-half-hour driving distance of Surprise, AZ.
• Own your home; renting is not permitted.
• Have a fenced yard; underground fencing is not acceptable. In unfenced areas, the dog must always be leashed. Exceptions for homes without a fenced yard may be considered, provided the guardian agrees to leash the dog outside the enclosed area.
• Adhere to the recommended diet and supplement regimen.
• Provide regular veterinary care, including the specific annual exams and vaccines we specify. ~Arrange for professional grooming every 4-6 weeks, following the approved cut and style. Submit at least monthly photos to track the dog’s development (who doesn’t love receiving dog pictures?). ~Ensure the dog is not left alone for more than 4 hours at a time. If both adults work full-time, arrangements must be made for the dog’s socialization and exercise.
• Transport the puppy/dog to us as needed for breeding, health testing, and whelping.
• Provide proper training: completion of basic training levels 1 and 2 by the time the puppy reaches 9 months, with proof of training required. These levels encompass essential obedience, socialization, and manners. Families achieving Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification will receive a special gift as a token of our appreciation.
